The move towards full fleet automation is seeing rising costs when the road surface in working and operations areas impacts the ability of traffic to maximise production. Unlike roads these areas require treatments that address traffic issues in multiple operating directions, and maintenance causes both process interruption and loss of efficiency. The cost of maintenance in these areas needs to be factored into production output costs.
A regular Geosynthetic solution implemented has involved the use of Geogrid and Geoweb stabilisation to prevent surface rutting in multiple traffic directions. This also allows improved performance for thinner pavement depths when material is expensive for ideal construction.
